A Rare medical case: A Successful treatment for an Indian woman with a Half Uterus

Doctors here reported on Thursday that they had successfully treated the first-ever case of adenomyosis in a non-communicating rudimentary horn in India, an extremely rare case of half uterus.

Doctors at C.K. Birla Hospital in Gurugram stated in a statement that “this is the second case reported worldwide, with the first case documented at the Lebanese American University Center in July 2021.”

The 27-year-old patient came in for treatment because she was experiencing pelvic pressure and ongoing pain on the right side of her pelvis and lower abdomen. She also couldn’t get pregnant.

A large, firm lump that deviated to the right side of the lower abdomen was discovered during a clinical examination. At first, the doctors thought it might be a fibroid. Adenomyosis in the non-communicating right horn, connected to a sizable fibroid-like mass, was discovered to be present in the woman’s left unicornuate uterus following a comprehensive diagnostic hysteroscopy and robotic myomectomy (adenomyoma removal) with chromopertubation.

The doctors stated that in order to preserve surrounding structures such as the intestines and urinary bladder, this difficult anomaly required careful dissection and extraction.

“The non-communicating horn’s adenomyoma posed a special problem. We were able to successfully remove the adenomyoma and preserve the right ureter by carefully dissecting it. Adenomyosis and a working non-communicating primitive horn are uncommon, which makes this case unique. The patient’s condition significantly improved as a result of the successful treatment, which included the entire horn being removed with robotic assistance, according to Dr. Aruna Kalra, the hospital’s director of obstetrics and gynecology.

“The final histopathology added a significant contribution to the few cases reported worldwide by confirming the presence of adenomyosis in the primitive horn. Dr. Kalra continued, “The clinical presentation of such cases can range from mild pain to complications like endometriosis, pelvic pain, or obstetrical issues like ectopic pregnancy and preterm delivery.”

The patient went home the following day, and the doctor anticipated that she would soon start her reproductive journey.

Honeywell India partners with Americares to transform healthcare and educational centers through its Sustainable community development program

Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), the philanthropic arm of Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) in collaboration with Americares India Foundation, has successfully completed two projects aimed at enhancing primary healthcare centers (PHCs) and schools in rural India. With a combined investment of over 6 crores in FY 2023-24, HHSIF and Americares have upgraded 48 PHCs and 6 schools across Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu.

Recognizing the critical gaps in healthcare infrastructure and educational facilities in rural communities, HHSIF embarked on a strategic journey to address these challenges in the year 2021-22. Over the years an investment of close to 17 crores has been made to upgrade 104 PHC, which has impacted over 30 lakh rural lives. In past year alone, HHSIF has invested nearly 4.5 crore towards upgrading 48 PHCs across Sangli, Satara, Nashik, Dehradun, Bhiwani and Kaithal. Vital medical equipment, coupled with essential training to proficiently operate the equipment, has been provided alongside the refurbishment of health center buildings ensuring that the PHC’s are well equipped to deliver healthcare services of the highest quality. The donated equipment includes vital medical instruments and devices crucial for effective healthcare delivery in palliative, maternity, dental, ophthalmic, immunization, ENT services and enhancing the capacity of these centers to cater to the healthcare needs of the communities they serve.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma steps down as Chairman and Board Member of Paytm Payments Bank

Leading financial services provider Paytm announced on Monday that Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the founder and CEO, has resigned from his position as Non-Executive Chairman and Board Member of Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) in anticipation of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) impending prohibition on the bank’s operations.

The company said in a BSE filing that the PPBL reconstituted the Board with the appointment of retired IAS officers Debendranath Sarangi and Rajni Sekhri Sibal, former executive director of Bank of Baroda Ashok Kumar Garg, and former chairman of the Central Bank of India Srinivasan Sridhar.

One 97 Communications Ltd (OCL) will reassemble the Board to oversee PPBL’s future operations following the RBI’s March 15 ban on bank operations. They became Independent Directors recently.

“OCL withdraws its nominee from the Paytm Payments Bank Board and Vijay Shekhar Sharma steps down as part-time, non-executive Chairman and Board member,” the filing stated.

By withdrawing its nominee, the company stated that it supports PPBL’s decision to choose a board composed solely of independent and executive directors.

“In order to facilitate this transition, Vijay Shekhar Sharma has also resigned from the Paytm Payments Bank Board, the company has been informed separately. The company stated in its filing that “PPBL has informed us that they will begin the process of appointing a new Chairman.”

The central bank decided to extend the deadline for Paytm Payments Bank Ltd. to cease accepting deposits by 15 days, to March 15, which is a noteworthy development.
The previous date that was set was February 29.

Users of the company’s mobile app can rest easy knowing that Soundbox, Card Machine, and QR codes will all still work after March 15th.

The CEO and MD of Paytm Payments Bank, Surinder Chawla, stated, “We welcome the appointment of Sridhar, Sarangi, Garg, and Sibal to our Board, marking a significant step forward in PPBL’s journey.”

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had earlier directed that the PPBL terminate the nodal accounts of One 97 Communications Ltd (OCL) and Paytm Payment Services Ltd (PPSL).

Due to “persistent non-compliances” and “continuing material supervisory concerns” within the bank, the RBI terminated this.

The CEO and founder of Paytm, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, met with Sitharaman in Delhi to ask for assistance, but he was told to speak with the regulator directly.

Over 30 crore people use Paytm, with about 11 crore of those users transacting each month. Additionally, it has a network of about a crore merchants who take payments on a regular basis. Honeywell Collaborates With The Green Solutions Corporation For Vietnam’s First Green Hydrogen Manufacturing Plant

Honeywell announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Green Solutions Group Corporation (TGS) on the Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen project, Vietnam’s first green hydrogen plant in the Mekong Delta.

Honeywell Battery Energy Storage System helps decrease costs and carbon emissions while providing grid stability from renewable power sources, enabling the production of green hydrogen at the Tra Vinh green hydrogen plant.

Honeywell will bring to the project its ready now technologies such as project automation design and management, and energy management for energy transition, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), to enable TGS to integrate renewable energy sources into the green hydrogen plant.

Witnessed by the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, the MoU signing took place in November 2023 at the COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

“Honeywell’s battery energy storage system will play a key enabling role in the Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen project,” said Ramanathan Valliyappan, Regional General Manager of Honeywell Process Solutions. “It will extend renewable energy from TGS’s solar farms beyond sunlight time as well as extend wind power when the winds are calm. Honeywell’s BESS platform helps decrease costs and carbon emissions by providing grid stability from renewable power sources, thus enabling the production of green hydrogen at the Tra Vinh plant.”

In addition to BESS, Honeywell will provide extensive solutions and expertise covering the entire hydrogen value chain to help TGS operate safely, profitably, and meet its renewable energy production goals.

“Our collaboration marks a critical step toward the production of green hydrogen at the Tra Vinh plant,” said Huynh Thi Kim Quyen, Managing Director of TGS. “The Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Project is a major landmark for our company and a significant milestone toward realizing our national goal of decarbonizing the energy sector with renewable energy solutions, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.”

Vietnam pledged to become net zero by 2050. By some estimates, it is one of the top five countries likely to be most affected by climate change, with possible severe social and economic risks. “A sentiment for a generation”: Well-known people impacted by Pankaj Udhas reminisce

Similar to how Bollywood actor John Abraham debuted on screen in 2012 for the music video of Pankaj Udhas’ timeless hit “Chupke Chupke,” actress Sameera Reddy received her big break in 1997 for the maestro’s “Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein.”

Following a protracted illness, Pankaj Udhas passed away in Mumbai on Monday at the age of 72. He had been receiving treatment for cancer at a private hospital for a while.

Reddy, who was devastated to learn of the 72-year-old ghazal legend’s cancer death, told IANS that “the most beautiful song… changed my life and launched my career.” I am where I am today because that song made people notice me.”

Reddy portrayed an Indian woman in the music video who falls in love with an Australian man. As the love tale progressed, Pankaj Udhas sang the song.

Reddy recalled how “his melodious and most captivating voice” had shaped her career, saying, “People still remember me from that song.” The loss of a legend today fills me with such sadness. My heart hurts for it. He has been an emotion for our generation and will always be remembered. We shall always remember his music.”

The music video for the song honoring the legend was also posted by the actress on Instagram.

“Today we have lost a legend. ‘Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatien’ changed my life,” Reddy wrote in the caption. Being a part of his generation was a privilege and an honor. We are grateful to Pankaj Udhas Sir for his lovely songs that have touched the hearts of our generation. You will be missed. Peace be with you.”

The late ghazal maestro’s close friend and veteran film exhibitor Manoj Desai of Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir fame also paid tribute to the ghazal legend. The hard reality that his 33-year friend had passed away was not something he was willing to accept.

Desai, who also owns Mumbai’s Gaiety Galaxy, another famous theater, showed his sorrow in a video while crying.

“Pankaj, it’s hard for me to believe that you are no longer with us in this world, as we have spent more than 33 years together,” he said. Everyone who was there enjoyed your ‘Khazana’ music special that you used to perform for cancer patients. Out of respect for you, all ghazal artists, including Bhupendra Singh, Anup Jalota, and numerous other ghazal singers, used to come without any pain. God bless you. The scheme will be benchmarked against NIFTY 50 TRI (40%) + CRISIL Short Term Bond Fund AII Index (45%) + Domestic Price of Gold (15%).

The scheme will have a Direct and Regular Plan. The Fund managers will allocate Equity & Equity Related Instruments (35-65%), Debt & Money Market Instruments (25-55) and Gold Related Instruments (10-20%).

The Fund will predominantly invest in securities of Nifty 50 index and other large cap stocks for its equity component, sovereign and PSU debt securities across durations for its fixed income allocation and Quantum Gold ETF & Other Gold related instruments for its gold component.

Quantum Multi Asset Allocation Fund Minimum Application Amount

Investors can make a lumpsum investment of ₹500/- and in multiples of Re. 1/- thereafter and minimum additional investment can be made in ₹500/- and in multiples of Re. 1/- thereafter / 50 Units

Investors can also opt for the SIP route with a minimum investment of Rs. 100 (Daily) & Rs. 500 for other frequencies (Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly & Quarterly)

The Investment Strategy:

Portfolio allocation between the equity, debt/ money markets and gold broadly depend on the relative valuations between the asset classes. Relative valuations are determined by evaluation of various influencing factors that include:

Price/Earnings Ratio relative to historical averages
The relationship between Earnings Yield to Bond Yield relative to historical averages
Macroeconomic factors prevailing globally, and within India
