Children’s Day 2023: Celebrating and Honoring Our Kids
November 14 has been declared as Children’s Day, or Bal Diwas, to honor India’s first prime minister and to spread awareness of children’s rights and welfare. On November 14, 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru was born, and to remember him, we are celebrating this day as Children’s Day.
“Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow.” said by Jawaharlal Nehru, First Prime Minister of India.
Nehru, who was affectionately known as “Chacha Nehru” or Uncle Nehru, had a strong commitment to children and thought they had the power to influence the course of the country. But following Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s passing in 1964, the nation’s parliament passed a resolution designating his birthday as Children’s Day. Since then, Children’s Day has been observed throughout India to honour the first Prime Minister of India’s birth anniversary.
Several nations celebrate this day on various calendar dates, such as the Bahamas’ First Friday in January, Thailand’s Second Saturday in January, New Zealand’s First Sunday in March, and Spain and the UK’s Second Sunday in May. USA on the second Sunday in June; Croatia on November 11; and Congo on December 25. In some countries, it is Children’s Week and not Children’s Day.
The subject of World Children’s Day this year is ‘For every child, every right’, coinciding with Children’s Day on November 14. Children’s Day offers a chance to recognize and honor the special traits, skills, and capacities of young people. Children can display their abilities through talent shows, art exhibits, and other events, which helps to build their self-esteem and inspires them to follow their hobbies.
Children’s Day is widely celebrated at schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. To make the youngsters feel festive, a variety of events are planned, such as games, contests, and cultural presentations.
Children’s Day has grown in the digital age to include online campaigns and initiatives to promote responsible technology usage, online safety, and cyberbullying. Teaching kids about the advantages and disadvantages of the internet world is essential as they use digital platforms more and more.
A person’s childhood is the most delightful time of their life. I wish every child on the planet a very happy Children’s Day. Enjoy a fun-filled day without limits!
