IIM Ranchi Inaugurates Global Edition of the Young Changemakers Program
IIM Ranchi inaugurated the global edition of the Young Changemakers Program (YCP) Rural Immersion Bootcamp, a transformative initiative aimed at fostering multifaceted development among aspiring students. With a vision of comprehensive and multidimensional growth, the YCP gathered a pool of exceptional talent from six different countries and twenty states, attracting over 3000 enthusiastic aspirants. Following a rigorous selection process, 80 outstanding individuals were chosen to partake in this exceptional educational venture.
Prof. Gaurav Manohar Marathe, Chairperson, Social Impact Committee, IIM Ranchi presented the idea behind the programme. The idea is centered on enabling participants to visit villages, immerse themselves in first-hand experiential learning, and collectively brainstorm solutions for real-world challenges. An extension of the Harvard model of case study, the Young Changemakers Program is the first of its kind live case study method of learning introduced by IIM Ranchi.
Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, the esteemed Director of IIM Ranchi, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the selected YCP students. Recognizing the limitations of conventional education systems in preparing students for real-world challenges, YCP emerges as a catalyst for instilling social intelligence and cultural awareness.
The venue was also honored by the august presence of Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner to East & North East India, the Chief Guest. He highlighted the incredible diversity across India’s 28 states, equating each state’s uniqueness to that of different countries. He reminisced about his school days and the challenges he encountered, underscoring the profound changes he witnessed during his stay in India.
The session culminated with an empowering address by Risav Ganguli and Himani Shah, the last year’s YCP winners, emphasizing that the program augments one’s candidacy beyond a mere certificate.
The Young Changemakers Program at IIM Ranchi stands as a testament to nurturing future leaders, fostering empathy, and equipping them with the skills needed for a diverse and dynamic global landscape.
