Indian Bank, one of India’s leading public sector banks, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer to offer attractive financing solutions to Tata Motors commercial vehicle customers and authorised dealerships across the country. The bank will offer customised financial packages with competitive interest rates and streamlined credit processing.

This partnership will provide tailored financial solutions for Tata Motors’ entire commercial vehicle portfolio including LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and electric range of commercial vehicles. Tata Motors and Indian Bank will also significantly scale up their partnership on dealer financing.

Bengaluru-based insurance-tech startup Healspan – provider of a disruptive revenue cycle management software enabling hospitals to seamlessly manage all key aspects relating to their health insurance claims settlement and revenue enhancement – has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding led by financial services and angel investing network Lead Angels. The round also witnessed participation from several other angel investors like Ankitt Jain (Founder, Paper Arizona); Chief Investment Officer of a GCC based Investments firm, Srijith Nair (Founder & CEO, Gowelnext Solutions); and The Doctorpreneur Academy. Prior to this, Healspan had closed a pre-seed funding round of INR 1.2 Cr last year.

Healspan will be utilizing the fresh capital raised through this seed round majorly towards bolstering its marketing and sales, and growth. He said, “The scene I want to highlight is the champi sequence between Manoj and his mother, which was a pivotal moment in the film when Manoj comes to the realization that his grandmother has passed. What makes it special is the amount of planning and production that goes into shooting even a single shot. In this scene, in the background, there’s a door with magic light—the brief period when day meets night, lasting only 5 to 7 minutes. Vidhu Vinod Chopra sir and DOP Rangarajan Ramabadran designed this master shot months in advance. On set, we actors had to be precise, as we had only those few minutes to capture it. Geeta ji and I chose not to use glycerin for this emotionally taxing scene, opting instead to feel as close to the moment as possible. It was a scene where we were required not to cry, but weep. So, it was a big challenge. It took several rehearsals, but we managed to pull it off.“

In a significant step towards promoting indigenous (“Make in India, For the World”) manufacturing, Tata Motors Group, India’s leading producer of commercial and passenger vehicles, today held the groundbreaking ceremony of its new, world-class production facility to manufacture cars and SUVs, at Panapakkam in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu. This manufacturing facility will produce next-gen vehicles for Tata Motors and JLR. The internationally benchmarked plant will cater to requirements of both Indian and international markets.

 The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin and Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons & Tata Motors, in the presence of several eminent Ministers, public representatives, senior bureaucrats, government officials, and senior representatives of the Tata Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Thiru M.K. Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, said, “Tata Group is renowned for its contribution to nation building. It has a deep, historic relationship with Tamil Nadu with many of its manufacturing plants successfully operating in our state for the past several years.  Tata Motors Group intends to invest ~INR 9,000 crores in this greenfield manufacturing facility, which has been designed for an annual production capacity of over 250,000 vehicles. Production will begin in a phased manner and progressively increase to reach this capacity over the next 5-7 years.

Samsung India’s flagship CSR initiative, the ‘Samsung Innovation Campus,’ (SIC) has concluded its Coding & Programming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) courses for 350 students in Gorakhpur at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. The students were handed over certificates of completion by the Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath at a ceremony held at the University premises. This initiative reiterates the brand’s commitment to being a strong partner of the country and working alongside the government in its mission to skill India and power #DigitalIndia.

Senior Samsung executives and representatives from the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), which collaborated in training and mentoring the students were also present during the occasion. A total of 350 students were awarded certificates across various future-tech domains, including 150 in Coding & Programming, 100 in Artificial Intelligence, 50 in Big Data, and 50 in Internet of Things (IoT).

 Samsung will train 3500 students across India as part of this programme in 2024. The AI course participants undergo 270 hours of theory training followed by 80 hours of project work, while those enrolled in IoT and Big Data courses receive 160 hours of theory training and complete 80 hours of project work. Participants in the Coding & Programming course complete 80 hours of training and take part in a hackathon.

The programme covers eight educational institutions across four states. In the northern region, training centres are established in Lucknow and Gorakhpur, besides two in Delhi NCR. In the southern region, which includes Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, training centres are located in Chennai and Sriperumbudur, in addition to two in Bengaluru.

 During the programme, participants will continue to receive instructor-led blended classroom and online training. Youth enrolled for the programme will undergo classroom and online training and complete their hands-on capstone project work in their selected technology areas in AI, IoT, Big Data and Coding & Programming.

 They will also be imparted soft skills training to enhance their employability. The participants are being mobilized through ESSCI’s training and education partners across India. The approach includes a combination of offline and online learning, immersive hackathons and capstone projects, as well as expert mentorship provided by Samsung employees.

 During 2023, Samsung Innovation Campus successfully trained 3000 students in future-tech courses. Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) inaugurated Faculty Development Programme on Quantum Technologies, held from September 9-13, 2024. The event was graced by Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director of MIT, who presided over the ceremony, setting the tone for a week of academic enrichment and innovation.

The programme featured Dr. Asvija, Associate Director of C-DAC, Bengaluru, as the chief guest.
