Revolutionary Treatment Without Surgery Now Possible with Interventional Radiology

The Indian Society of Vascular & Interventional Radiology – Karnataka State (ISVIR KAR) today successfully conducted the Clinical Interventional Radiology Conference 2024 in Bengaluru.
Interventional radiology represents a groundbreaking advancement in medical treatment, offering patients minimally invasive alternatives to traditional surgery. This cutting-edge speciality uses advanced imaging to guide precise, non-invasive procedures, allowing doctors to diagnose and treat complex conditions without the need for surgery. This innovative approach significantly improves patient outcomes by reducing recovery times, lowering the risk of complications, and decreasing treatment costs.
Dr. Rohit Madhurkar, President of ISVIR KAR, highlighted the potential of interventional radiology: “Conditions such as thyroid nodules, uterine fibroids, varicose veins, breast lumps, liver diseases, and certain cancers can now be treated effectively through a pinhole-sized entry into the body. This revolutionary technique ensures faster recovery, reduced risk, and more affordable treatment options” ential for patients across various medical specialties.
Dr. Rajesh Helavar, Secretary of ISVIR KAR , emphasized the importance of raising public asignificanth “Unfortunately, many people are still unaware of the benefits interventional radiology offers.” Dr. Helavar explained that one of the primary goals of ISVIR KAR is to bridge this information gap and bring attention to the significant advancements made in interventional radiology. “Through conferences, public outreach, we aim to educate both the public and healthcare professionals about how interventional radiology can provide effective, non surgical solutions for some of the most common and challenging medical conditions,” he stated.
Adding to this, Dr. Madhu S.D., Treasurer of ISVIR KAR , remarked, “Interventional radiologists (IRs) are specialists extensively trained in imageguided treatments. Their expertise in interpreting medical images allows them to perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on nearly all organs. Interventional radiology plays a crucial role in modern patient care and management.”  He also highlighted that these treatments are now available at government run institutions like Kidwai memorial institute of Oncology and IGOT, Bengaluru.
This year’s conference highlighted the significant advancements in the field and showcased its lifechanging potential for patients across various medical specialties.
