World Environment Day: PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign
The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday in honor of World Environment Day, and he urged people to plant a tree in memory of their mothers.
The national capital’s Buddha Jayanti Park hosted the campaign’s planting of a peepal sapling by Prime Minister Modi.
In addition to expressing his joy at the campaign’s debut, the prime minister urged people to honor their mothers by planting a tree in the near future.He urged everyone to post a photo of themselves planting the seedling.
In a post on X, PM Modi said: “Today, on World Environment Day, delight to start a campaign, #EkPedMaaKeNaam. I call upon everyone, in India and around the world, to plant a tree in the coming days as a tribute to your mother. Do share a picture of you doing so using #Plant4Mother.
Additionally in attendance were Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.
‘Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience’ is the theme for World Environment Day.
In a conference held in Stockholm in 1972, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) established World Environment Day. Since 1974, the day has been observed. Every year on June 5, we mark World Environment Day.
